Liverpool have reportedly met with Callum Hudson-Odoi and his brother, who acts as his agent, earlier in the month as they look to challenge Bayern Munich for the Chelsea forward’s signature.
The 18-year-old has shown a lot of promise in several cameos for Chelsea this season and with Jadon Sancho proving to be something of a pioneer for young English talent playing in the Bundesliga, ‘CHO’ could follow in his footsteps.
Jurgen Klopp has regularly said that he has no plans to buy in January this year but he and Michael Edwards have been known to organise deals with players that only come into effect in months – take Naby Keita for example.
The Liverpool sporting director agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to sign him 12 months down the line as a way to beat Bayern to his signature and some on social media have speculated that the Reds could try a similar tactic with Hudson-Odoi.
According to German news outlet Bild, Liverpool met with Callum Hudson-Odoi and his brother earlier this month ahead of a potential £35million deal but all might not be as it seems.
With Liverpool and Bayern Munich set to go head to head this summer to sign RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner there is the chance that the Reds are merely using CHO as a way to distract the Bavarians from their mutual main target in Werner.
Either way, one thing is certain: neither deal will be completed this month. The only transfer that will go through before the start of February is for Billy Koumetio.
