Graeme Souness believes that Dejan Lovren was poor for Sergio Aguero’s goal in the first half against Liverpool on Thursday evening.
The Reds’ 20 game unbeaten run since the start of the Premier League season came to an abrupt halt against Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp got his tactics all wrong but it was an individual error that allowed Aguero to open the scoring with a sensational finish at the near post to reward Pep Guardiola for his side’s bravery and desire.
The player who made that individual error? You guessed it; Dejan Lovren.
“He’s got on Lovren’s blindside,” Souness said of Aguero on Sky Sports. “Lovren at no time looks over his left shoulder to see where he is.
“Let’s not be over-critical because the touch and the rest of it is just sensational.
“You’re not entitled to shoot from that angle, you’re certainly not entitled to score.
“But the pace of the shot saw the goalkeeper off.”
