Zinedine Zidane spoke about how he had his players deal with the attacking threat Liverpool posed in the Champions League final.

While Mohamed Salah might have been forced to leave the final in Kiev prematurely due to a shoulder injury, the Reds were dominating Real Madrid in the opening half an hour of the game.

Had the Egyptian not been injured, who knows what might be different but there is no use looking back and feeling hard done by. At the end of the day, Los Blancos showed their quality and winning mentality as they beat Liverpool 3-1.

Former Madrid boss Zidane has spoken about Liverpool and how he prepared his players to face Europe’s most prolific front three.

Asked if he gave his side special instructions for Salah, Zidane told UEFA: “Not at all! Our game was always the same, regardless of who we were facing.

“We told players about the individual characteristics of opposing players, so that they were aware of specific things that those players did

“But I didn’t want to do too much of that, as I wanted my players to focus primarily on our own game.”

On Liverpool as a team, Zizou said: “They’re a counterattacking team that do a lot of pressing and are very quick to get the ball up to their three forwards when they win possession. They’re also a team that never give up.”
