Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot and are looking to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Given how things ended in the summer with Nabil Fekir, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will make another move for him in future transfer windows. That said, Jürgen Klopp still wants to bolster his midfield ranks further and seems to have landed on Rabiot as his man.

The 23-year-old is a fan of Liverpool and admitted in an interview with French radio station RMC that he grew up loving the mighty Reds.

He said: “I would love to play in the Premier League, not necessarily one club in particular, even though I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young.”

Sources close to ESPN have said that Liverpool are very keen on Rabiot, especially if they can sign him on a free transfer, and have made contact with the player’s mother, who acts as his agent.

Klopp is apparently a long-term admirer of Rabiot’s and having tried to sign him while he was manager at Borussia Dortmund, the thought of finally signing the Frenchman appeals to the German.

As yet, Rabiot hasn’t accepted a new contract from Paris Saint-Germain and with his terms with the Ligue 1 champions set to expire next summer, there will be competition from Barcelona to sign him on a free.

Rabiot’s admiration for Liverpool could prove influential as could Klopp’s charisma and we all know what happens when the boss tries to convince a player to join him…
