Reports on Tuesday claimed that Liverpool will not let Chelsea hijack a move for Lyon captain Nabil Fekir and could submit a fresh bid to land their man.
The Premier League transfer window is set to slam shut in less than 48 hours and yet there are some that still believe that Liverpool will complete a deal to sign Nabil Fekir despite the fact that his medical results scared them away in June.
While it’s not actually possible to fail a medical – with the results obtained by club doctors merely used to help the owners make a decision on whether or not to sign a player – it is possible for a move to be jeopardised after an unfavourable medical.
Nabil Fekir will be able to speak to this being true after a second opinion on his knee didn’t provide the necessary reassurance in order for a £53million move to Anfield to be sanctioned.
Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested in making a controversial move for Fekir before the window closes, with the Blues thought to be the more likely to submit an offer to Lyon.
The Bleacher Report, via the Daily Mail, reports that Liverpool could surprise everyone by submitting a fresh bid for Fekir. The Reds are apparently keen on avoiding having their number one transfer target stolen by league rivals.
While I am sure everyone at the club would like to see Fekir at the club, it would really go against the grain to see Liverpool backtrack on their decision not to push a move for the playmaker through.
