Liverpool have reportedly had a £20million bid accepted by Besiktas for Croatian World Cup hero Domagoj Vida despite them valuing him closer to £30million.
Although several British journalists have said that Alisson Becker’s £66.8million world record move to Liverpool will be the final incoming of the summer, these are the same reporters that have been the last to report major transfer news.
There haven’t been any strong indications from the English press that Jürgen Klopp is chasing a new centre-back but this means very little. Reporters from Italy were the first to break news about Alisson potentially moving to Liverpool.
The English reporters were several hours behind at every turn and it’s become something of a theme over the last 12 months, with Guinean journalists breaking the news that Naby Keïta had his heart set on a Liverpool move last summer.
With more reports from Turkey surfacing in the last day claiming that Liverpool have submitted a third bid for Domagoj Vida, I am far more inclined to trust them at the moment than I am the so-called reliable Liverpool journalists in England.

The latest reports from Turkish publication Aksam claim Liverpool have submitted a £20m bid for Vida and have seen it accepted. Besiktas have been rejecting bids on the basis that they weren’t meeting the £30m valuation but the Reds’ offer has allegedly been deemed acceptable by the Turks.
Vida could join his national team defensive partner Dejan Lovren at Melwood this season and his arrival would see the depth in quality at the back bolstered significantly.
If Besiktas have accepted a bid from Liverpool then the Reds will be free to talk to the player about his personal terms. Perhaps we’ll hear news of another medical being booked at Melwood soon…
