Bayern Munich and France midfielder Corentin Tolisso wants a switch to Liverpool, with reports in Italy billing it as his “dream move.”
In all competitions last season, Tolisso was directly involved in 17 goals and was certainly good value for the £40 million Bayern paid to sign him from Lyon.
Having signed Fabinho and Naby Keïta already with the pair set to join the club on the 1st of July, Liverpool are very close to completing what is certain to be one of the best engine rooms in the league.
Having missed out on Nabil Fekir by all accounts, Jürgen Klopp could be looking at another French international in Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso.
In Italy, Calcio Insider claim that Tolisso is targeting a move to Liverpool, writing: “Tolisso wants a Premier League [move]. [The] dream [is] Liverpool.”
This is backed up by comments he made to Onza Mundial in December last year: “I like the long game, the passes between two opponents, the passes behind the defence. It’s beautiful stuff too I think. I’m not going to say that because otherwise people will say “He compares [himself] to Gerrard”, but I like the passes that Gerrard made.
“Steven Gerrard is someone who knew how to do everything. He could score, defend. You could see him everywhere.”
While I rate Nabil Fekir very highly, I honestly think a midfield three with Keïta, Fabinho and Tolisso would be incredibly tough to play against.
They all have an aggressive tackle in them, know how to read the game and make incisive passes but most of all, they are all fantastic athletes and would cope better than most in Klopp’s intensive pressing machine.
Having paid £40 million for him last season, Bayern would undoubtedly demand more than that to let him leave but with new boss Niko Kovač arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt, it is unclear what his plans are for the 23-year-old.
