Reports from Italy indicate that Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic is on Lazio’s summer transfer wishlist after his role in helping Cardiff City win promotion to the Premier League.
Liverpool have signed Fabinho this summer and secured a deal in January that will see RB Leipzig’s Naby Keïta join the Reds in three weeks.
The two midfielders will walk straight into Jürgen Klopp’s midfield and will make the world of difference as far as competition is concerned. Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all see their spots in the starting lineup whisked away.
For Marko Grujic, someone already on the fringes of the first team, Liverpool’s transfer business will present a serious challenge to his aspirations of playing regularly at Anfield.
According to Tutto Mercato, Italian outfit Lazio are keen on signing the Serbian as they did with Lucas Leiva last summer. The Brazilian has thrived in the Calcio A, with the pace of the game and regular minutes revitalising a player that was stagnating in England.
After narrowly missing out on qualifying for the Champions League, Lazio are looking to bolster their side and believe Grujic to be a player that can help them into Europe.
Although he played very little football last season, Grujic has been selected by Serbia to go to the World Cup.
While he may not be in Jürgen Klopp’s immediate plans at Liverpool, the 22-year-old is somebody the German rates very highly and will more than likely go out on loan again next season.
