Jack Hallows breaks down some of the key numbers behind Mohamed Salah’s record-breaking Premier League campaign.
What a player.
No seriously, what an absolutely phenomenal player this man is.
I don’t think anyone quite thought when we signed Mohamed Salah from Roma last summer that the £35m Egyptian would score this many goals. 20? Sure, we create chances and he’s got a lot of pace, heck, 25 in all competitions wouldn’t have surprised me.
To manage 32 in the Premier League alone, winning the Golden Boot and breaking the record for the most goals in a 38 game league season in the process… That’s just other-worldly. He even did it by scoring just a single goal from the penalty spot all season.
I thought given the nature of the former Chelsea man’s achievements, it would be interesting to detail some of the key numbers behind Salah’s incredible Premier League campaign.
1: Number of goals Mo scored from the penalty spot in his record breaking run.
2: The longest run of Premier League fixtures Mo went without a goal this season. Also the number of headed Premier League goals he managed.
3: Number of Premier League Player of the Month awards Mo picked up this season. Also the amount of Champions League Player of the Week awards he’s scooped.
4: Mo’s highest goal tally in a single fixture this season against Watford.
5: The number of goals Mo scored against Watford this season, his highest tally against a single opponent. Also the amount of Premier League goals he scored with his right foot across the season.
7: Number of LFC Player of the Month awards won by Mo this season. The only months the former Chelsea and Roma winger did not scoop were October (Lovren) and January (Firmino).
10: The number of assists Mo managed alongside his record-breaking goal tally.
11: Mo’s shirt number which, if he keeps this up, will soon become iconic at Liverpool.
17: The amount of Premier League teams Mo scored against this season. The only sides he failed to net against were Swansea and Manchester United.
24: The amount of individual Premier League fixtures Mo netted in during this campaign.
25: Goals scored with his favoured left foot.
32: The record-breaking number of Premier League goals Mo scored.
35: The number of individual accolades Mo picked up this season. Think he’s going to need a bigger awards cabinet!
36: The number of Premier League games Mo featured in this season.
57: The minute in which our Egyptian King notched his first Premier League goal for Liverpool on the opening day against Watford. Also the total amount of Premier League goals our electric front three finished the season with combined!
59: How many points Liverpool would have finished on this season if you removed every single one of Mohamed Salah’s Premier League goals.
70: With 32 goals and 10 assists in 2922 minutes of Premier League football, Mo averaged a goal contribution every 70 minutes! That’s actually insane!
75: Points total Liverpool finished on this season.
303: The number of Fantasy Premier League points Salah finished on – another record. Good thing I picked him week one and never looked back!
