Jürgen Klopp has given his thoughts on Liverpool’s 3-0 win over his old adversary FC Bayern Munich.
“Nearly everything was super but we’re still in our preparations,” Klopp said after his side booked their spot in the final against Atletico Madrid to be played on Wednesday evening.
“We haven’t played enough football so far. Bayern had too much possession tonight. We had to run around too much but at times my team showed how good they can play football. The third goal was great. In attack, we were really good.”
“In the first half we were very dangerous on the counter, the pressing was very good. I see we are right at the start of getting there. We have trained a lot around these games. It’s not that we are fresh and top fit for the preparation games. I am satisfied but I think we can play better.
“It’s Atletico tomorrow and I hear it wasn’t a friendly game for them against Napoli. I hope things will calm down as we want to play a bit.”
The German was asked specifically about left-back Alberto Moreno who, while a surprise starter for many, ended the 90 minutes as one of the game’s outstanding performers. The Spaniard has been tipped to leave the club this summer but his manager opened the door on the possibility of him staying “if he plays like he did today.”
“That was a really good game by Alberto. That’s why we kept him playing, every second he was playing better, he was more present. He’s really fit. He has a little problem with his thigh, but we had a test with him this morning and he played really well.
“The players decide themselves how many games they play.”
Klopp also provided an update on Daniel Sturridge’s fitness after the Englishman appeared to tweak his thigh muscle while scoring his side’s third goal.
“I can’t say. He hurt his thigh. He has really prepared well.”
