Lucas Leiva has brought to and end a ten year stay at Liverpool Football Club, completing his medical ahead of a £5m move to Italian club Lazio.

10 years, 346 appearances, 7 goals.

Lucas Leiva’s £5m move from Liverpool Football Club to Serie A Lazio is imminent.

The Brazilian landed in Rome yesterday ahead of his medical and the club posted the following photo on their official Twitter account yesterday afternoon to confirm he’d arrived safely.

This was followed this morning by a pair of photos of the midfielder completing his medical.

Despite the Brazilian often being a target for direct criticism on social media due to his lack of pace, tributes to the midfielder’s Liverpool career and loyalty to the club came pouring in at the news.

The Brazilian was allowed to leave by Jürgen Klopp out of respect for his dedication and service to the club. The German felt that Lucas deserved a chance at regular first-team football in his favoured position – holding midfield – something he could no longer be offered at Liverpool.

The Brazilian is reported to have said his goodbyes at Melwood on Friday ahead of the Red’s 1-1 draw with Wigan.

Goodbye Lucas, thank you for all your years of service and all the memories along the way.

You’ll Never Walk Alone.
