Liverpool want Naby Keïta, he wants the Reds too and a Guinean journalist believes interest from Manchester City won’t change this.

RB Leipzig will receive a fresh £65 million bid from Liverpool for Naby Keïta next week as the Reds seek to wrap up a deal for the Guinean midfielder.

Jürgen Klopp wants Keïta at Liverpool to add more dynamism to his midfield and James Pearce reports that the player is desperate to move to Merseyside and is considering forcing a move through to get his way.

A new development in the transfer saga is that Manchester City have contacted Naby Keïta’s agent. This is according to journalist Amadou Makadji, who claims that the 22-year-old only wants Liverpool.

Jürgen Klopp and the lure of Liverpool has swayed him into wanting a move to Anfield and the same can be said of Virgil van Dijk, even if there was a complete failure on the club’s behalf as far as their approach to Southampton is concerned.

While there is still a long way to go for Liverpool to secure Keïta’s signature, it’s clear that the Reds are in a strong position in their negotiations with RB Leipzig.

Liverpool jet off to Hong Kong this week as they continue their preparations for the new season and obviously Keïta won’t be a part of this leg of the club’s pre-season programme but if negotiations escalate this week he could join his new teammates in Germany for the Audi Cup.

It looks promising for Liverpool at this point and with a new bid set to be submitted in the coming days, it remains to be seen if Leipzig will have their heads turned.
