Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is completely relaxed about the club’s transfer strategy and is remaining patient in his bid to secure his first choice targets.
Speaking after the 4-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp revealed he is completed relaxed about the club’s transfer dealings so far this summer despite a lack of evident movement.
Speaking pitch side about the transfer dealings of the club and their rivals, the Liverpool boss said: “We also bought players. Yes and they (rivals) lost a lot of players. I heard Man United lost players, got new players. Don’t know about Chelsea, I’ve not heard a lot.
“If any of our fans think about what the other teams are doing and why we aren’t doing anything, I can’t help, sorry. We cannot only buy players because other teams buy players.”
Klopp continued to reiterate his stance that he is “not nervous” about the fact that Liverpool have only signed two players so far during the summer. However, the German refused to talk about van Dijk when grilled about the Dutch defender.
“We do our business as good as we can do it and we are completely in it and we are convinced about the way that we are going so that’s all. Nervous fans? Sorry, I cannot help, I don’t have to write a message for this.
“I’m not nervous – maybe that’s the right message for this.
“Am I allowed to talk about this? I am not! Pretty much everything I could say would be a mistake. You or your colleagues wrote everything about this a few weeks ago. I was in Iceland by the way when somebody told me this was in the newspaper. Nothing happened since then, all good so far, so I can’t say anything about this.”
Asked again about how many new players could be expected this summer, the German cheekily joked: “There’s no chance we will add any more players and I’m not frustrated about this… joking!
“We have until August 31, we have time and sometimes things need time. We’ll do transfers because we want to do them, if not it’s because we don’t want to do them. So we have to wait a bit but tomorrow you can have a long sleep because nothing will happen tomorrow.”
Of Liverpool’s two summer signings so far, only Dominic Solanke featured against Tranmere, impressing during a second half where he exhibited smart hold up play, quick feet and impressive agility on the ball.
Mohamed Salah is currently in Paris wrapping up the final details on his work permit and is hoping to make his first appearance for the club in Friday’s friendly showdown against Wigan.
