Divock Origi isn’t holding back ahead of the 2017/18 season and aims to start the coming campaign fitter, stronger and better than ever.

Divock Origi managed 11 goals in 21 starts across all competitions during the 2016/17 season, including a run of scoring in five consecutive games back in December that saw him net goals against Sunderland, Leeds, Bournemouth, West Ham United and Middlesbrough.

However, the big Belgian striker is not going to rest on that this season and has set himself “ambitious” targets for the upcoming campaign as he aims to continue improving.

“I’ve made steps and it’s (up to) me to keep progressing. I feel really good so I go into the season with a lot of excitement,” Origi told the club’s official website.

“I’m going to take it game by game, training session by training session, just trying to express myself and enjoy myself. When I enjoy the game, I always play good.

“I set personal targets, high targets – it’s always good to be very ambitious and tough on yourself, and I think that will push me to do well.”

The 22-year old forward was part of the second wave of players to return to Melwood – on Saturday – after being picked as part of the Belgian international squad over the summer and as such, hasn’t had a chance to “speak to Jürgen Klopp about his role this season.”

It seems, however, that he already knows what will be expected from the German.

“He always expects us to be ambitious and give our best. I haven’t really spoken to him one on one but, for me, I already know what I have to do,” the Belgian striker explained.

“I’ll just go with a lot of excitement and enjoy the game and try to take every minute I get.”

You can catch Origi and the rest of his Liverpool team-mates against Tranmere Rovers tonight on LFCTV and LFCTVGO with kick off at 7.45pm BST.
