The Reds started preparations for the new season on Wednesday and now eight more players will return to Melwood today for pre-season training.
The initial stages of Klopp’s preparations for the new season have been limited to just 22 players so far, with only the first wave – those who had no international commitments over the summer – having returned from their holidays.
However, from Saturday onwards, the club have confirmed that eight more players will return to Melwood to start their pre-season programs including Liverpool’s newest signing Mohamed Salah.
Salah will meet his new teammates for the first time this weekend and the Reds new no.11 will likely take part in his first Liverpool training session on Sunday – Saturday will most probably be spent undergoing the same fitness and mobility tests that the others went through on Wednesday.
The pacy wide-man noted the crucial need to get to know his teammates before the start of the new campaign when he signed for the club in late June saying:
Salah said, “I would like to start the pre-season with the team so I can know everyone well, as a person and also as a player. I am here at the right time.”
Alongside the Egyptian, Klopp will welcome back Divock Origi, Simon Mignolet, Harry Wilson, Gini Wijnaldum, Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan, Marko Grujic and Danny Ward.
All eight players will be hoping to use the next few days as best they can to ensure they are in the best shape possible when Liverpool’s friendly matches start on Wednesday against Tranmere Rovers.
However, there is no guarantee the likes of Salah, Wijnaldum or Lovren will feature due to Klopp’s sensible unwillingness to rush any key stars back to action before they’re ready.
Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Emre Can are all yet to return but all three have been working hard on their fitness, posting constant updates to their Instagram accounts.
