Jürgen Klopp has given his thoughts on Liverpool new-boy Mohamed Salah and why the Reds chose to snap him up this summer.
With pace, finishing ability, an impressive creative streak and a fantastic work ethic, it’s no real surprise that Mohamed Salah was purchased from Roma by Liverpool just a couple of weeks ago.
The Egyptian winger became the Reds’ new record signing, costing the club £36.9m and Jürgen Klopp believes his price tag was 110% justified.
“Even if people didn’t know too much about him, they (must have) watched a few videos and they are impressive,” the German told Liverpoolfc.com.
“We have had a few talks of course, spoke to each other – he is a really nice lad. He is really looking forward to coming to Liverpool and joining us.”
One of Salah’s main assets is his incredible speed across both short and long distances and this, paired with his deadliness in front of goal, is something that Klopp highlights when explaining why he wanted to sign the player.
“He is a fantastic player, with speed. We said after last season, there are a few things we would try to involve in an already really good squad; one of the things is speed, being kind of a finisher, preparing chances, making goals and all that stuff. He brings all this in.”
“He is a naturally fit boy – he can run as quick and as long as he wants. That’s all good. I’m really looking forward to (working with him).”
Salah is due to meet up with his new Liverpool teammates in the next fortnight before the Reds head off to Hong Kong for the second segment of their pre-season fixtures.
Anyone else really looking forward to our first glimpses of Salah out on the pitch?
