Liverpool Football Club have officially confirmed the signing of Mohamed Salah from AS Roma on a five-year contract after a successful medical.
The news we have been waiting for has finally arrived after what has seemed like ages. An announcement on Liverpool’s official website confirms that Salah will join the Reds on a five-year contract.
Upon joining, Salah said, “I’m very excited to be here. I’m very happy.
“I will give 100 per cent and give everything for the club. I really want to win something for this club.
“We have a great team and very good players. I was watching the games last year and everyone was giving 100 per cent to win something.
“Everyone can see the coach gives everything. I hope to see that together we can give everything to win something for the club, for the supporters and for us.”
Being able to sign of one Roma’s best players, a club guaranteed Champions League football for next season, even though Liverpool hasn’t yet confirmed their status in the competition is quite a coup.
Salah scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions last season and will bring an extra source of attacking output to Liverpool’s team.
With pace and energy, Jürgen Klopp will be over the moon to have secured the signature of the Egyptian international.
Given that Liverpool struggled last season to break down sides that defend with a low block, having both Salah and Sadio Mané on the wings, as well as Philippe Coutinho in midfield, will aid the Reds in breaking down teams that sit back and soak up the pressure.
With Champions League football set to return to Anfield Road once more, Salah’s presence in the side and experience of the competition will also be a bonus.
I really think Liverpool have scored an absolute bargain with Salah just entering into his prime years as a footballer at 25 years of age.
Once again, brilliant business by Jürgen Klopp.
