Mohamed Salah will definitely be making the switch to Merseyside this summer according to former Tottenham and Egypt striker Mido.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has been excruciating at the very least for Reds fans with the process already seemingly drawn out far longer than it needs to have been. The Reds submitted an initial bid of £28m for the player but since then news has gone quiet, with AS Roma believed to want somewhere closer to the £40m mark.

Despite the seeming impasse and inability of either club to find a compromise, former Tottenham and Egypt striker Mido is confident that the move will be finalised.

“Salah will definitely move to Liverpool. It is just a matter of time,” he said. “Liverpool’s style of play suits Salah perfectly and Klopp’s style suits him.”

Via Egyptian website Kingfut, the former target man added: “I’m not concerned about the competition Salah will face in Liverpool, but I just fear he might not be able to cope with the higher tempo of playing in the Premier League.”

This is admittedly a worry that is shared by a large percentage of Reds fans after Salah’s first attempt to crack the Premier League with Chelsea ended in a number of loan deals before sealing a permanent move to the Serie A.

However, since then, the Egyptian has been sublime for Roma and he has managed to net 34 goals in 83 games for the Italian club. It’s this deadliness in front of goal, coupled with his lightning pace and ability to play anywhere across a front – or supporting – three that would make him such a coup for the Reds.

The Reds evidently do have a contingency plan in place on the off-chance that the deal does fall through entirely, with Gelson Martins and Douglas Costa both on Klopp’s alternative shopping list but it is believed that Salah is his first choice.

The player is believed to be keen on a move back to the Premier League, with personal terms all but agreed with Liverpool.
