Liverpool is sounding out a move for Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi with the Egyptian frustrated at his lack of game time, claims The Bleacher Report.

A source of much discontent this season among Liverpool supporters has been the complete lack of capable back-up available to Jürgen Klopp. When injury strikes, things inevitably fall apart as has happened with injuries to Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mané on different occasions.

What is particularly irksome is the fact that Liverpool had the chance to reinforce the squad in the January transfer but, for one reason or another, Klopp didn’t make any signings. The result was a complete drop-off in form for the Reds and the fading away of their title and cup dreams.

Whether or not Liverpool can offer Champions League football next season, depth is of the utmost importance and Klopp could turn to Stoke City to bulk up his very limited options on the wing.

According to The Bleacher ReportLiverpool could sound out Stoke City regarding the availability of Ramadan Sobhi.

Stoke’s Egyptian winger has been limited to just 15 games for a total of 764 minutes, which works out to 50 minutes per game. Sobhi is interested in playing more, and being just 20 years old, it’s imperative for his development that he plays more regularly.

A move to Liverpool wouldn’t be beneficial for either party under the circumstances. While few would deny that Sobhi is an exciting player and has potential, he has only managed one goal and no assists this season which isn’t good enough to play for Liverpool.

If Sobhi is genuinely interested in playing more often, a move to Anfield, where Coutinho and Mané have the wide roles nailed down, is not suggestable.

The report from The Bleacher Report doesn’t claim there to be any firm interest, which is unsurprising.

Liverpool has been linked with a summer move for Mohamed Salah which would be far more suitable. It would go a very long way to upping the level of competition in the training camp, with Coutinho and Mané essentially unrivalled for the places in the starting lineup.

When Klopp has a fully fit squad, the starting lineup is phenomenal but the bench lacks quality. Liverpool has had to name Ben Woodburn, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria on the bench many times this season just to make up the numbers when injuries have piled up.

Ramadan Sobhi might not be the man for Liverpool and vice versa, but Klopp still needs to find a new winger capable of edging out Coutinho or Mané ahead of next season.
