Abel Xavier remains the last player to play for both Everton and Liverpool but one Belgian Romelu Lukaku could be the next claims Graeme Le Saux.
The Reds only got a point from their trip to the Etihad as they failed to consolidate their place in the top four.
They are currently four points off Manchester United in the fifth place but have a decent chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
But their performance, not just at the Etihad but also in most games they dropped points, makes it clear that they are lacking a genuine goal scorer at the club.
But according to the verdict of Match of the Day pundit Graeme Le Saux, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is the answer for Liverpool’s striking woes.
The Belgian star has 21 goals to his name this season in the domestic league and is currently the top goal scorer in England. He has been in devastating form this season and is only getting better and better each year at Goodison Park.
However, he recently revealed that he will not extend his contract at the club and this has put the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, two of his potential suitors on alert for a move in the summer.
However, Le Saux believes it is not impossible for Liverpool to make a mind-blowing swoop for the 23-year-old this summer.
Discussing the Belgian’s options, he said, “Yeah, maybe even Liverpool. He’s just got that ability and he’s only going to get better.”
Liverpool have lacked a genuine goal scorer who can convert half chances against small teams and Lukaku could be a perfect fit at Anfield.
At his age, he is only going to get better and will not be available for anything less than £60 million this summer.
Do you think Liverpool will consider approaching their local rivals for their biggest star?
