The business end of the Premier League season is almost upon us and it has brought with it a number of ridiculous rumours, very few more ridiculous than Anderson Talisca’s potential move to Liverpool.
Jürgen Klopp was desperate for attacking additions at the start of the season and was linked with some exciting names in the transfer window.
The manager settled for Southampton star Sadio Mané but one player who was constantly on the radar of the Anfield outfit is Benfica star Anderson Talisca.
The 23-year-old Brazilian was among the many stars that Liverpool wanted in the summer but issues with work permit saw him snub any offers from England to seal a loan switch to Besiktas before the deadline day.
Just as well for Liverpool as Mané has made a flying start to his time at Anfield.
However, Talisca has continued his impressive form in the Turkish domestic league, scoring 14 times for his club and is yet again in demand in the summer.
And even as we report this rumour, there are a number of reasons why it is just a story that makes no real sense.
Firstly, Liverpool have attacking quality in abundance in that position and even if they lose Daniel Sturridge in the summer, they are looking to add a slightly more experienced and established player to their squad.
The Reds have enough potential in their squad to beat the best sides in Europe on their day but they need a prove goal scorer who can score consistently for the side to help them to glory next season.
Talisca, who is yet to play outside Turkey and Portugal, is not the man that can take Liverpool forward. So it is hard to see Liverpool make a move for him in the summer.
To add to that, Talisca, at just 23 is on a two-year loan at Besiktas and his current form for the Turkish club gives little reason for his parent club to halt his progress.
Also wanted by English club Wolves, Talisca is undoubtedly a potential superstar but even as Liverpool are constantly linked with him, there is little reason for them to spend on the Brazilian this summer.
