Liverpool are ready to step up their interest in the pursuit of one of the most exciting attackers in the La Liga this summer with the Reds ready to trigger Inaki Williams’ £43 million release clause.
The victory over Burnley has taken Liverpool five points clear of Arsenal in fifth place, giving them a decent chance to cement a place in the top four.
With no other competition keeping the side busy, the Reds are in with a decent chance of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in two years and Jürgen Klopp is already planning for life next season.
Daniel Sturridge has extensively been linked with an exit for some time now and Klopp has reportedly identified Athletic Bilbao star Inaki Williams as his replacement in the summer.
The 22-year-old has just three goals to his name this campaign but he has been in superb form, helping the Spanish side to seventh place in the La Liga, with just over 10 games to go in the domestic season. The English side were desperate for his signature in the January transfer window but the La Liga outfit were not ready to let him leave.
But Klopp is convinced that he is the man that can take Liverpool forward and has constantly sent scouts to keep an eye on him in the last couple of months.
And according to reports from ghanasoccernet, Liverpool are ready to steal him away at the end of the season. The 22-year-old revealed that he is happy with his time in Spain not too long ago and that he is not looking for an exit this summer.
Speaking to the media, Williams said, “People have put words in my mouth, things that I have never said. I’m happy where I am and this is where I want to be.
“I have always thought about staying at Athletic and I’ve no intention of changing clubs,” he added.
However, Liverpool are now ready to break the bank and meet his release clause of around £43m for a move at the end of the season.
The likes of Juventus are also interested in his signature but Bilbao are adamant that they do not want him to leave the club this summer. The star signed a contract extension at the start of the previous year but Klopp is determined to lure him to Anfield before the start of the next season.
