Rivaldo tips Coutinho for Barcelona move
It has easily been Liverpool fans’ worst fear for, what feels like, an awful long while, the possible loss of star playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
For the past year, speculation over a move to some of Europe’s biggest clubs has been rife, with the Brazilian’s good form for Liverpool this season doing very little to quell it.
And it has taken a new twist, with Coutinho’s countryman and legend Rivaldo tipping the midfielder to make a move to Barcelona in the near future.
“In my opinion, he’s a great player and a player who knows Neymar well. I think they are both friends – players who stand out.”, Rivaldo told Sky Sports, via Empire of the Kop.
“I think that this transfer might happen because Barcelona is always going to attract the best, isn’t it?”
Indeed it is and with Coutinho falling into that bracket with each performance, it’s becoming harder and harder for everyone connected with the Reds to keep outsiders quiet.
The only hope that will surely be shared is that the little magician achieves the success he yearns for and deserves in red before perhaps turning his head to Cataluña.
Liverpool reject Sakho loan bid
Liverpool have rejected a loan bid from Southampton for defender Mamadou Sakho.
That is according to the Liverpool Echo, who report that the Saints are interested in acquiring the services of Sakho until the end of the season, with their captain Jose Fonte seeking a move away from the club.
However, the Reds are said to be only interested in sanctioning a permanent deal, with their £20 million valuation of the Frenchman still standing.
With the Saints becoming yet another club to show an interest in Sakho only to be put off by his asking price, perhaps it’s time Liverpool just look to offload the centre-back for a much less excessive fee.
Reds back in for Hart
Goalkeepers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius may just be beginning to sway opinion with a few strong performances in league and cup competitions, however, that hasn’t stopped the rumour linking Manchester City’s Joe Hart with a move to replace both.
Hart is currently on loan at Italian club Torino but the general consensus is that his career in England’s top flight is not quite finished, with a number of media outlets in both Italy and England linking him with a move back to the Premier League.
And it is one of the Italian media outlets in Tuttosport, who report that Liverpool are ready to step up their interest in the Englishman, via the Daily Star.
It is suggested that the Reds have already made enquiries over a deal to purchase Hart, with next summer the likeliest time the move could be set to happen.
Ask a lot of the Anfield faithful and although they may be well pleased with Mignolet’s recent displays while still keeping their faith in Karius, a move for England’s number one may just be too good to turn down.
That said, this rumour is one to keep a keen eye on.
