‘Tis the season, ladies and gentlemen! The season for transfer rumours, news and speculation of absolutely every kind. So, let’s kick it off with a roundup of today’s reports.
With the issues being faced by Loris Karius at Liverpool so far and Simon Mignolet seemingly not having a long term future as the Reds number one, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly set to try his hand for another stopper but he may have to wait until the summer. While it comes as no shock to see the Reds linked with a couple of goalkeepers when you consider the criticism faced by both our keepers of late – some unjustified, some perfectly fair – the two names being thrown around currently may be a little surprising to some.
The first comes from The Mirror with Joe Hart being linked by John Cross to a summer move following the end of his current loan deal with Torino. It is thought that Hart’s Manchester City career is confirmed to be over with Guardiola having signed Claudio Bravo in the summer and the Mirror goes on to reveal that Hart would find it hard to turn down another English club if the offer came about.
The second comes in the form of another recent title winner in Kasper Schmeichel. The Liverpool Echo’s Joe Rimmer has reported this morning that the Danish international has emerged as a potential target for Jurgen Klopp given his experience in the Premier League. The asking price is said to be around £20 million pounds which could prove a little steep for a man who has just turned 30. Make of this what you will.
Moving on from the defensive third of the pitch and straight up into the attacking realms where these Wilfried Zaha links seemingly won’t go away. Football Whispers have tipped the ex-Manchester United flop to make a move to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp said to see the speedster as the perfect competition for Sadio Mane. While Zaha has been in great form so far this season – he’s scored three goals and assisted six in 16 league games – it’s hard to see Jurgen Klopp spending what is likely to have to be in the realms of £30 million pounds plus to bring the winger to Anfield.
Finally, it looks as if the Reds may, unfortunately, be set to miss out on American winger Christian Pulisic – for now anyway. The young Dortmund winger has been in sublime form for Borussia Dortmund this season and Klopp is said to be a huge admirer. However, while ESPN have claimed that there are “people in football,” trying to convince him to move to the Premier League, the German club’s insistence he is going nowhere will make any potential move very tough to bring to fruition.
Who – if any – of these four linked players would you guys like to see donning Liverpool Red at Anfield in January? Let us know in the comments below!
