After being brought back into the starting lineup on Wednesday night after poor performances from Loris Karius, Mignolet will keep his place after a solid performance against Boro.
Although Mignolet has had some torrid times at Liverpool, I must commend him on the way he has gone about the recent situation surrounding him and the goalkeeper’s position. After making a solid start to the season, he was dropped for Loris Karius and although Mignolet has played the occasional cup game, he has not seen much action.
The Belgian has not complained but supported the team throughout the time he has spent on the bench, he has been bided his time and finally got his chance against Boro midweek which he grasped with both hands. With such a commanding performance it has left Klopp no choice but to stick with the Belgian for the upcoming Merseyside derby.
Mignolet has often been criticised for his distribution and his lack of physicality at set pieces and crosses, flapping at the ball. Mignolet will need to be alert at all times during the game against Everton if he wants to keep the number 1 position.
