Liverpool have been linked with the signing of Moussa Dembele once again but will face competition from Arsenal.
According to Club Call, Celtic’s Moussa Dembele is on Liverpool’s radar as the club seeks to bolster their attacking lineup with injury prone Daniel Sturridge unreliable and Sadio Mane leaving in January to take part in the 31st edition of the African Cup of Nations.
Celtic signed Dembele on a free in the summer and the Frenchman has been in fine form under Brendan Rodgers, scoring 17 goals in 30 games this season for the Scottish Premier League team.
Dembele would be a very good addition to Jurgen Klopp’s attacking lineup as he is very direct and loves to take a player on. Off the ball, Dembele’s energy and raw desire would be perfect for Liverpool’s gegenpressing philosophy and he would do a lot to reinvigorate the Reds’ attacking which has been subdued somewhat since Philippe Coutinho was seriously injured.
Several Premier League clubs are interested in Dembele with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also keeping an eye on his progress. Arsenal and Liverpool, however, are looking to get their heads in the door first and are reported as being ready to bid £20 million to secure Dembele’s services.
For Celtic, £20 million would come as a significant return as they didn’t pay a penny to sign Dembele. That being said, it is difficult to imagine Brendan Rodgers being willing to let his in-form forward go in January, but a bid in the region of £20 million is likely to be difficult to refuse.
