Three players Liverpool could sign in the January transfer window

With Liverpool’s attack functioning as it currently is, it would be easy to question why Williams’ name appears on this list. Surely, with the likes of Firmino, Coutinho, Mane and Lallana performing as they currently are (not to mention some big talent on the bench) the squad is not in need of another forward player?

Unfortunately, whilst the Reds always seem to create chances and score goals when those four are playing, there will be times this season when key players are not available for selection, either through international duties (Sadio Mane is leaving for the AFCON in January) or due to injury – the Reds are already feeling the effects of Philippe Coutinho’s absence from the side with an ankle injury.

In order to prevent these absences from having a detrimental effect on the teams’ fortunes this season, Klopp may look at Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams. The 22-year-old is fast, powerful, and poses a significant goal threat.

A major factor which could convince Klopp to consider approaching the Spaniard in January is his versatility. Similar to Mane, he can play either as the main striker or as a winger. As a result, he may be well suited to a Liverpool team who focus heavily on movement, and the constant interchange in positions amongst the front five players. In spite of his skill and movement, Williams does also have a more physical side to his game. This combination of pace and power would be perfectly suited to the physical nature of the Premier League.
