Rushing into a lead and throwing it away late on is textbook Liverpool. How many times down the years have we seen it done? It’s like we always had a self-destruct button and weren’t shy to press it. It wasn’t exactly like it would happen every now and again, though, it was a monthly occurrence!

Sunderland in February, Southampton in March, Newcastle in April, Sevilla in May are just a few of the examples from last season.

Those days, however, fingers crossed, seem to be behind us. Now we are holding on to leads, we are showing a little bit of grit and determination. We are fighting and digging deep to make sure we get over the finish line.

There’s already been a number of occasions this season. Arsenal away, Chelsea away and West Brom at home all reduced the deficit to one goal, the Liverpool of recent years would have crumbled under the pressure and let the lead slip. We’re even digging down and coming back to win from a losing position as we saw at Swansea away!
