It is almost a crime to begin describing this occasion.

Liverpool’s run to the UEFA Europa League final last season saw them meet Klopp’s former club, Borussia Dortmund, in the quarter-final. The first leg in Dortmund ended in a 1-1 draw but it was the second leg which produced one of Anfield’s greatest European nights.

Reds fans came into the clash with plenty of hope but it was all left hanging by a thread in only the first ten minutes of the game, as Dortmund scored twice through Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Divock Origi gave Liverpool some hope following the half-time interval but a third goal for the away side by Marco Reus put them well on their way to the semi-final.

However, no one strolls through Anfield on a European night.

Two goals by Coutinho and Mamadou Sakho put Klopp’s men level on aggregate (4-4) before the moment of the night: An injury-time header by Dejan Lovren found it’s way into the back of the net, sending the Anfield crowd and a world of Liverpool fans into rapture.

Klopp’s men may have gone on to suffer defeat in the final at the hands of Sevilla but this match surely counts as the German’s greatest moment and Reds fans will hope for even greater moments but this time, ones that lead to success.
