Martin King returns with his predictions for gameweek five of the Premier League season.
Like a prolific writer who is constantly putting the words down for the perfect novel, the Premier League has, so far produced multiple storylines that, when put together at the end of the season, will surely make for a crazy but very much enjoyable tale.
Last week’s storylines were filled with emphatic victories and bragging rights for some and heavy, confidence-draining defeats for others.
The Manchester derby kicked things off as Manchester City shocked their neighbours, United at Old Trafford with a comprehensive 2-1 victory. Two more results of the same scoreline followed as Arsenal just edged Southampton at home and Crystal Palace earned their first win of the season at newly-promoted Middlesbrough.
West Ham United was also on the list of shocked sides as after taking a 2-0 lead over Watford at the London Stadium, the Hornets rallied back to a 4-2 victory. Tottenham Hotspur was merciless against Stoke City, winning 4-0, whilst Bournemouth beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 and Burnley played to a 1-1 draw at home to Hull City.
Chelsea also earned a draw at Swansea City (2-2) in the only Sunday fixture of the round and Monday’s action saw Everton cruise to a 3-0 win away to Sunderland. And to crown it all, Liverpool began a new era at Anfield with a 4-1 victory over champions Leicester City.

The Reds will be first to continue the story of the 2016/17 season, with a second Friday night match of the season away to Chelsea – a great curtain-raiser to the fourth round of Premier League action.
So, without a further waste of time, let’s get straight into it with our fifth round of predictions.
