Rousing the Kop’s Michaels attempt to predict Liverpool’s lineup against Leicester City.

Yes, it’s finally here. Liverpool finally has a home game to play this season after starting the campaign with three away games in the Premier League, as well as hitting the road to visit Burton Albion in the EFL Cup.

Anfield’s Main Stand has undergone rad-ical redevelopment and is now a behemoth. The historic stadium is now the sixth largest ground in the country, coming in at sixth.

Last season’s champions, Leicester City is Anfield’s first visitor this season, but despite the Foxes’ fairytale campaign last time out, Liverpool will fancy their chances of victory today.

How does Michael Baddeley think Jurgen Klopp will send out his boys?

Formation: 4-2-3-1

XI: Mignolet, Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Lallana, Sturridge.

With it being a home game, I can see Klopp playing a more attacking formation.

Although Loris Karius is fit again, it is probably too early to play him after the injury, but then again it would be a real baptism of fire if he were to make his debut vs Chelsea away! Klopp should go for an unchanged back four from the one against Tottenham as it looked pretty decent. We would be stupid to change it and Klopp probably realises that.

I think a midfield two will be used, it’ll go to a three when we don’t have the ball, but predominantly, it will probably be a two man midfield consisting of Hendo and Wijnaldum sitting a bit deeper. I do think that playing a two might come back to haunt us, though. There isn’t much defensive cover there and Leicester loves to soak it up then break on the counter attack. Klopp will definitely be wary of that, though.

Lallana is in great form and Klopp seems to love playing him. It’s a toss up as to who is in the middle, though, him or Firmino? Mané will obviously play on the right-hand side and I think he might just go for Studge up top, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Coutinho on the left and Firmino up top. It all depends on whether Klopp thinks he is ready I suppose!

Prediction: Get the new era at Anfield of to a good but nervous start. 1-0 or 2-1 to the Reds!

Onto the next Michael! This time, Michael Mongie has a crack.

Formation: 4-3-3 (Flat)

Lineup: Mignolet, Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Milner, Hendo, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Mane

For once, I’m going to talk about the attack first.

I think that Klopp will opt for Roberto Firmino due to his ability to press for the full 90 minutes as well as his proven quality as a number 9. Coutinho and Mane will prove width and pace going forward, although the latter is more adept in this department.

I will be very surprised if we see a midfield three that is different to any of the first three Premier League games so far. Lallana, Wijnaldum and Hendo provide a pressing unit that is very energetic – all that is lacking is defensive solidity.

When you look at the back four it’s likely the same players that featured against Tottenham will play tonight. What Liverpool lacked last was consistency, so Klopp will be looking to get his back four settled and consistent before the season is fully underway.

Prediction: With an aim to obtain consistency, Klopp will employ similar tactics that we’ve seen against Arsenal, Burnley and Spurs to gain the upper hand. 2-2 draw on the Main Stand’s debut.
