Finally, the last player who I feel deserves a mention is fellow-Englishman, Joe Gomez. In a similar incident to Ings, he also tore his ACL just before Klopp arrived at Liverpool. This was arguably even more of a blow due to the youngster impressing in the games he played. This isn’t mentioning the penalty he gave away at Old Trafford, of course.

People were initially sceptical of his ability, due to signing from lower-league Charlton Athletic. It was initially labelled as a typical “Rodgers signing”, but he managed to win me over with a bunch of near-faultless performances. The centre-back (or left-back as he played under Rodgers) could potentially replace James Milner in the near future, as the left-back spot is a topic still in hot debate.

Of course, at this moment in time, he is still suffering from injuries and a lack of fitness; but fans have seemed to forget about him completely.

These 3 players would, in my opinion, slot into the starting XI comfortably and would be guaranteed to put in a good performance nine times out of ten. But at the end of the day, Jürgen Klopp knows what he is doing.
