Three Liverpool players overlooked amidst the transfer craziness

My personal favourite (or hate, in this case) is the 20-year-old-Serbian midfielder Grujic, who was signed in the previous transfer window by Jürgen Klopp. He was then immediately loaned back out to his now former club, Red Star Belgrade.

A central midfielder, he possesses a presence which is suited to the Premier League. His height, physicality, and agility would, in my opinion, make a more than arguable case to start alongside Emre Can every week. Of course, Jordan Henderson fills this role normally, but some people are suggesting that this is only due to the Englishman being captain.

In competitive fixtures alone, Grujic has only featured once this season; a substitute appearance against Burnley, although he did look fairly impressive when coming on. He was a shining light in the dark, as we suffered a humiliating 2-0 away defeat. On the flip side, he made several appearances in pre-season.

The first was his unofficial debut at Fleetwood Town – where he scored! He showed his passion with a knee sliding, fist-pumping celebration and this instantly made me take to him. He then continued his impressive form with another 2 goals. With 3 in total, this is an extraordinary stat from a player who featured in the holding midfield role.

Of course, not to forget the pick of the bunch. A looping header against Barcelona in the dying embers of the game. A simply stunning finish that made people’s heads turn in his direction.

However, unfortunately for him and fans of his ability (including myself), he hasn’t featured as much as we would have liked. Klopp favours Wijnaldum and Lallana as work-horses in central-midfield, but I for one would like to see Marko out in a red jersey, earning his first start.
