Lucas Leiva is delighted that Jürgen Klopp has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Liverpool for another 6 years.
The good news that Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has extended his stay by signing a new contract with the club has been very well-received by fans and players, with the latest man to come out and express his approval of the new deal being midfielder Lucas Leiva.
Lucas, who played the first half of Liverpool’s first pre-season game at Tranmere Rovers – a match the Reds won 1-0 – said it’s great news for the club that will hopefully yield some much desired success.
“It’s great news for the club and for the fans as well because the relationship with him started really well and we hope that he will have a lot of success at the club,” the Brazilian told Liverpool’s official website.
In only nine months at the club, Klopp has already lead Liverpool to two cup finals. Despite the results of both, the German boss still oversaw the development of a squad that he inherited from former boss Brendan Rodgers and Lucas shares in the belief that the club’s decision to offer Klopp fresh terms shows how much they believe in his work.
“About the new contract – it’s always good, because it shows that the club believe in what he is doing and the decisions he is making.

With the summer transfer window still wide open, changes are surely still on-going under the Reds boss ahead of his first full campaign at the helm.
Preparations for that campaign, which is highly anticipated, continue on Wednesday with a friendly clash against Fleetwood Town.
