Rumour Mill: Liverpool Reportedly Interested In Italy International

According to reports Liverpool are interested in signing AC Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio.

Italy’s fullback is in France with his country for the Euros and he is reported to have caught Jürgen Klopp’s eye. The Italian could come in to replace Alberto Moreno who has been woeful.

The news is being reported by Kickoff – don’t put your mortgage on this one.

While the 23-year old is a natural right back he is comfortable playing in a number of positions including both fullback slots or even as a winger.

Since arriving in October last year, Klopp has made it his priority to strengthen Liverpool’s weak defence. This has already been done with the completed transfers of Loris Karius and Jöel Matip.

The sentiment that any good side is built from the back doesn’t seem lost on Klopp. With Moreno’s ineptitude last season ultimately costing the club silverware it would be difficult not to look to replace or put pressure on him by signing a new left-back.

Since the end of the 2015/16 season Liverpool have been linked with a never ending stream of fullbacks including Germany’s Jonas Hector and have even had a bid rejected for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

While it may be unlikely, the signing of De Sciglio would be superb for Liverpool. His versatility and know how cannot be over-valued. Here is a clip of what the Italian international is capable of:
