Al-Ettifaq have jokingly apologised on social media after revealing Jordan Henderson’s shirt for the upcoming season shows the former Liverpool captain wearing ‘EFC’ on the back.
As per the Saudi Arabia club’s official Twitter account, Al-Ettifaq said sorry to Liverpool supporters after revealed Henderson’s jersey for the Saudi Pro League season, with the club’s initials of EFC, the same as Everton’s, on the back.
Given Liverpool’s fierce rivalry with Everton, it is quite amusing to see a former Anfield captain in Henderson now wear the Toffees’ initials for his new club in Saudi Arabia.
The England international made the move to Al-Ettifaq last month, reuniting with Steven Gerrard in the Middle East in one of the more controversial moves of the summer window.
And Liverpool fans will now have to see their previous skipper wearing a shirt with EFC on the back, with Al-Ettifaq seeing the funny side of the revelation.
