Gary Neville has predicted Arsenal to beat Liverpool comfortably on Sunday, with the pundit tipping the north London side to put away the chances the Reds allowed Chelsea to take last night.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Manchester United captain believes the Gunners will not be so wasteful in front of goal compared to Chelsea, who missed numerous chances against the Reds and even had a goal disallowed in a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Whilst Liverpool have history on their side when it comes to taking on Arsenal, Mikel Arteta’s side have proven that they can break down historic barriers in the Premier League this season, with the table-toppers beating Tottenham away for the first time in nearly a decade as well as beating Jurgen Klopp’s side at home at the Emirates.
Given how questionable Neville’s Arsenal opinions has been this season, the pundit tipping Liverpool to be blown away by the Gunners is a telling sign, with the former Red Devils skipper saying: “It’s for certain if they [Liverpool] were to give Arsenal the chances they’ve given Chelsea tonight, they would be well behind in the game on Sunday.”
Indeed, Liverpool arguably got away with it against Chelsea, who were let down by some poor finishing from the likes of Kai Havertz. Yet with Arsenal as ruthless a team as they have been this season, the Reds could finally lose their historic streak against the north London giants this weekend.
Liverpool must heed Neville’s warning ahead of Arsenal clash
Liverpool might have an aura of confidence heading into Anfield on Sunday to face Arsenal given their incredible record against Arteta’s side over the last decade, yet Neville is right that the Gunners will be less-forgiving than Chelsea when it comes to clearcut chances.
The north London side are not where they are in the table on pure luck, with Arsenal’s attackers one of the most cohesive units in the Premier League, and Liverpool can’t afford to be caught out with the Gunners keen to claim another win on their way to an unprecedented league title.
