Jamie Carragher has tipped Liverpool to beat Arsenal this weekend as the Premier League leaders travel to Anfield for one of the biggest matches of the season so far.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, the pundit claimed that the Reds will get an improbable result against Arsenal as Mikel Arteta’s side head to Merseyside this Sunday as the clear favourites, with Carragher saying when asked on if Liverpool can win: “Yeah, I think Liverpool will beat Arsenal.”

Whilst Arsenal have been exceptional this season, there’s no denying that Liverpool will provide the Gunners with a massive test this weekend, with the north London side failing to win at Anfield since 2012, a torrid run that has included some horrendous results.
Last season alone saw Arsenal lose 4-0 at Liverpool, and although Arteta got his revenge this season in a 3-2 win at the Emirates, travelling up north will be a whole different story for the Gunners, with many supporters predicting that this will be the game that makes or breaks their Premier League title bid.
Indeed, with Liverpool desperate for points, a win against the Gunners could springboard Jurgen Klopp’s side back into the top-four picture, and Carragher’s confidence should paint a picture as to how the Reds should approach their hosting of Arsenal this weekend.
Carragher right to predict that Liverpool can beat Arsenal
Arsenal’s title bid has been fuelled by the Gunners doing the unexpected and breaking down numerous barriers under Arteta, such as beating Liverpool and claiming similar results against other clubs where they have struggled, such as Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Yet for this weekend, Carragher is right to predict that Liverpool will beat Arsenal, with the mythos of Anfield and the stakes that are on the line this Sunday something that might get to Arteta’s side and cause them to wobble at the worst possible time.
