TalkSPORT pundit predicts who'll score more goals this season - Liverpool's Darwin Nunez or Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus

Neither Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez or Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal will win next season’s Premier League Golden Boot.

That’s according to TalkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair, who thinks Harry Kane will outscore them both, as well as Erling Haaland. Sinclair was asked to rank the four strikers in terms of who will get more goals in 2022/23.

“It’s difficult to look past Kane, because I think Tottenham are going to be a threat this season, and because he’s done it so many times before, he’s so consistent. So I’d probably put him one,” said the pundit.

Kane is tried and tested over many years. With three Golden Boot’s to his name, any of the trio would do well to get near him. Sinclair does think that Liverpool’s new-boy Nunez will score more than Jesus, though.

“Haaland and Nunez I’d put on a level if that’s Ok, joint second,” he said. ” (But) I still think Jesus will get 15 plus goals, I really do, as long as Arsenal produce.”

Don’t forget about Mo

Perhaps it’s just to rank four different players from four different teams, but there’s one name glaringly omitted here.

Mohamed Salah is coming fresh off the back of collecting his third Premier League Golden Boot. He’s surely the man most likely to outscore Kane.

Having said that, judging by Nunez’s predatory finishing for Liverpool last night, the Egyptian now has some serious competition.

Maybe we’ll see a repeat of the 2018/19 season, when Salah and Sadio Mane finished as joint top scorers. Diogo Jota scored more league goals than Jesus last season too, don’t count him out!

Plenty of top-level competition for goals

Whatever the final outcome, we can all agree that there’s now some premier goal scoring talent in England next season.

The future of Cristian Ronaldo is also still unresolved. Whatever his critics, the Manchester United superstar will always be there or thereabouts if he stays in England too.

From a Liverpool perspective, it’s good that Salah is sticking around to take the pressure from Nunez. He’ll still have to replace Mane’s goals, but that’s a less daunting task.

For Jesus, Kane and Haaland, they’ll all be expected to be their team’s main goal threats. Two of them are joining a new team where they’ll have to bed in. With that pressure off Darwin, he could yet outscore them all.
