Liverpool's Jordan Henderson reportedly back in contention to face Leicester and Leeds

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is back in contention to start after recovering from an illness, according to the Athletic.

The former Sunderland midfielder was sorely missed when the Reds travelled to London to face Spurs. Tyler Morton made his full Premier League debut, featuring alongside Naby Keita and James Milner.

According to the Athletic, as cited on Twitter by the Anfield Watch, ‘Jordan Henderson is back in contention after missing Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Spurs on Sunday with an illness.’

Hopefully, Jurgen Klopp goes strong against Leicester as it represents a decent opportunity for Liverpool to win silverware this season.

Manchester City, serial winners of the tournament, were knocked out of the completion by West Ham. So it is logically easier to win it this season.

Liverpool should do everything they can to win, given they haven’t done so under Klopp. If they do, it will enhance the German’s legacy at Anfield. He has never really made a genuine attempt to win the domestic cups because of his weaker squad compared to Manchester City and Chelsea. But this season is a good chance to at least win the Carabao Cup.

Most STUPID Thing YOUR Club Could Do Right NOW

Leicester are a strong side so, if Klopp picks his fringe players, it’s difficult to envisage a win. Yet after the disappointment of the Spurs draw, it would be good to see momentum built up by winning tonight.

It is unclear if Henderson will feature, but I can’t see the skipper playing even if he is technically in contention as he’s needed more urgently in the Premier League at the weekend.
