Divock Origi wins Man of the Match for Liverpool even with Mohamed Salah scoring

Divock Origi was named UEFA’s Man of the Match in the 2-1 win over AC Milan at the San Siro despite Mo Salah scoring his seventh goal in six games.

Liverpool fans were treated to another Origi strike on Tuesday. The Belgian really is the man of the moment for the Reds. He has two goals in his last two games and fans will be in no hurry to forget his winner against Wolves on Saturday.

He has six goals and two assists in all competitions this season. He’s managed this return from just 393 minutes, scoring or assisting every 49 minutes.

Salah scored his seventh goal in six UCL games this season and Origi beat the £225,000 a week Liverpool forward to the accolade.

Liverpool have a player in hot form right now in Origi and he deserves more minutes. He followed his dramatic winner against Wolves with a poacher’s finish after Sadio Mane’s shot fell to him in the box.

He also responded to critics who claim he’s only good from the start. The reality is that he doesn’t get enough minutes from the start to prove himself. That will change next month.

Origi can shine when AFCON stars leave

He needs to get minutes and more games throughout December to keep him firing in order to take over from Salah and Mane in January.

Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino and Origi will be vitally important next month.

Klopp will forget that Salah and Mane won’t be available if they can all chip in with a couple of goals each.
