Liverpool will rotate the squad this evening, Jurgen Klopp admitted, but Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will start.
It’s a Champions League away game under the lights. But there isn’t anything riding on it for the Reds as they are through to the Round of 16.
Additionally, they have already secured top spot in the ‘Group of Death’ but wins build momentum and, heading towards Christmas, Klopp’s side could use the confidence.
They are flying as things stand. Don’t let the fact that Liverpool only scored in the 94th minute against Wolves hide the fact that the Reds are in great form. Wolves are a fantastic team in defence and in transition, but their amazing work off the ball was undone by three moments of quality.
Firstly, the ball to Mohamed Salah was inch-perfect from 60 yards away. Secondly, the control on the move and the pace to drive into space from Salah was astounding. Thirdly, Divock Origi. Need I say more?
Liverpool team to rotate with key players not travelling
Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Virgil van Dijk and Diogo Jota have not travelled to Milan. Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Mo Salah and Joe Gomez are the most notable inclusions.
At the back, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate are likely to be paired together as it seems a bit early for Joe Gomez to start again. At full-back, Kostas Tsimikas should start and, while Neco Williams could be given a start, it seems likely that Trent Alexander-Arnold will still start.
It is likely that Tyler Morton will start again as he was fantastic against Porto. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino will probably start alongside the teenager.
Up front, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be deployed along with the man of the moment, Divock Origi.
Predicted starting XI: Alisson, Tsimikas, Matip, Konate, Trent, Minamino, Morton, Ox, Mane, Origi, Salah.
