Takumi Minamino has warned his teammates about Wolves’ dangerous attackers as Liverpool prepare for what is shaping up to be a tricky encounter.
The Reds are on a three-game winning streak and they scored four goals in each game as Jurgen Klopp’s side enters a high-scoring purple patch.
Wolves have conceded just 12 times in 14 games. But their stiffest defensive challenge presents itself in the form of a side spearheaded by none other than Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.
The trio has 28 Premier League goals this season, which is more than every side in the league aside from Manchester City (29) and Chelsea (33).
Wolves have three players that can hurt Liverpool if they are not careful, Minamino told Liverpoolfc.com, with the Japan international saying beating the lower-ranked sides is vital to winning the Premier League.
“There are many great players at Wolves such as Raul Jimenez, Adama Traore and Hwang Hee-chan, who was my teammate at Salzburg. They are tough opponents,” he noted.
“But without beating these tough teams, we can’t win the Premier League. I want to win the next match and if I am given a chance, I want to play 100 per cent for the team.”
Liverpool have been heavily linked with Traore over the last year or so and, while he’s an entertaining player and he has the potential to be something special under a coach like Jurgen Klopp, no goals or assists in 15 games this season is a truly dreadful record.
Wolves refused to listen to offers of less than £60million for Traore in 2020. While Jurgen Klopp reportedly wanted to pay just £30m in 2021 so a move to Anfield never materialised. While it’s impossible to know if that was for the better, Liverpool must keep him quiet and deny him his first goal of the season.
