Liverpool have Ralf Rangnick to thank for elevating and developing the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate.
Jurgen Klopp has been hailed for signing some fantastic players and they have helped him on his way to becoming the best manager in the Premier League, but he may owe Rangnick a thank you.
According to the Mirror, “Firmino joined him at Hoffenheim whilst the other three were signed whilst he was in his role with Red Bull.”
Mane and Firmino helped lay the foundations for success at Anfield before Mohamed Salah arrived, and the Egyptian took Liverpool to an entirely different level with 44 goals and 16 assists in his debut season.
Keita joined in 2018 but injury has made his life on Merseyside a real nightmare, while Konate has only recently joined the Reds and has been impressive in the odd glimpse we have had.
Three of them are Premier League and Champions League title winners and, if you give Konate the time and patience the other three were afforded, he could achieve similar success with the Reds.
This season has a lot of promise for Liverpool and, hopefully, we can see the likes of Keita and Konate star in a supporting role as it seems neither are guaranteed starters.
Mane is heading off to AFCON, which leaves room for Firmino to come into the side and show that he still has the swagger and confidence to play as a key figure in Liverpool’s attack.
