Liverpool could soon field a midfield trio of Keita, Thiago and Fabinho

Liverpool could soon field the club’s best midfield trio with Naby Keita reportedly returning to training soon.

When the Guinean pulled up with a hamstring injury against Brighton, it immediately hurt the Reds as they lost control of their 2-0 lead and wound up drawing 2-2 with the Seagulls.

It was one of the most frustrating results of the season and his presence was also missed against West Ham as the Hammers beat Liverpool 3-2.

Thiago’s and Fabinho’s returns have already improved Klopp’s side tenfold, with convincing wins over Arsenal and Porto a small but impressive sample.

Adding Naby Keita into the mix, however, would give Liverpool their first look at arguably their best midfield trio. I imagine that having all three on the pitch at the same time would yield a dream performance.

In Fabinho, you’ve got the steel and ruthlessness required to efficiently deal with Premier League sides, while Thiago provides the control and quality to dictate the tempo of a game.

What Keita has done best ever since his golden days at RB Leipzig is take the game by the scruff of the neck and drive the team forward, which is useful when things aren’t going according to plan or if Liverpool need to capitalise on a dominant period of possession.

Liverpool are heading into one of the most important months of the season and, with Keita heading off to AFCON at the end of December, he owes it to the Reds to help them win every game before he leaves.

There is no question that the Guinean dynamo is a talented player but he is far too injury prone.

He also needs to return from the tournament in Cameroon fully fit and ready to make an impact.
