The debate over the best right back in the Premier League has been raging on Twitter over the last few days.
Former Liverpool star Steve Nicol argues that Trent Alexander Arnold is the best. But he was not shy to dish out praise for who he considers to be close runners up.
Speaking on ESPN, he said: “From a defensive point of view I would say Reece James is ahead of the other two.
“But I don’t see how you can’t have Trent Alexander-Arnold in first, in terms of overall game, you have to have Trent Alexander-Arnold there, and then Reece James and then Cancelo.
“But it might be a bit harsh on Cancelo because he’s been fantastic.”
In all competitions this season, Trent has 11 assists and, if you count the ones he’s got for England, he has 14 for club and country.
He helped the Reds dismantle Arsenal on Saturday and looks like he will assist a goal in almost every game he plays.
If he continues at the rate he’s going, he will certainly break a number of records this season and further cement his place as the Premier League’s no.1 right back.
If he wins the title with Liverpool that will only further cement his place in the hall of fame as far as attacking full-backs go.
