Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-0 and Virgil van Dijk foreshadowed the best goal of the evening with his trademark early celebration.
When the ball broke to Diogo Jota following a perfectly timed press from Liverpool after Trent Alexander-Arnold lost the ball, it was obvious that Arsenal had conceded a big chance.
But very few expected him to produce a Lionel Messi-esque goal the Argentine would be proud of.
Jota turned and shaped up to shoot with his second touch before dragging the ball to his left, sending Ben White sliding past him on the Anfield turf before taking a deft third touch to take Aaron Ramsdale out of the game.
With an empty net in front of an expectant Kop, Jota simply passed the ball into the goal and celebrated his fifth Premier League goal of the game in 11 games this season.
What makes the goal even better is that it was foreshadowed by Virgil van Dijk, as the Dutchman was celebrating before Jota had even taken his second touch.
The win over Arsenal allowed Liverpool to climb back above West Ham in the Premier League, after the Hammers leapfrogged the Reds with a 3-2 win before the international break only to drop three points in their next game, losing 1-0 to Wolves.
Jurgen Klopp’s side remains in the Premier League title race, only four points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, who have a challenging run of games coming up before they face Liverpool again on 2 January.
