Liverpool face Porto in the Champions League and will need to make late fitness calls the same way they did in the buildup to the 4-0 win over Arsenal.
The 2020 Premier League champions are flying at the moment and, while they aren’t as defensively sound as they were at the start of last year, it’s very hard to contain them in attack.
Mikel Arteta was able to contain the Reds for almost 40 minutes. But the Spaniard riled Anfield with his angry confrontation with Klopp, and a dominant second-half display saw the game turned on its head as three more goals were scored to send Arsenal back to London humbled.
Attention now turns to the Champions League as Porto visit Anfield after losing 5-1 to Liverpool in the return fixture at The Estádio do Dragão and will be desperate to avoid a repeat of that result against a free-scoring side spearheaded by Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Speaking to journalists ahead of Porto’s visit to Anfield, Klopp was able to provide a positive injury update.
He said: “Hendo yesterday was not 100%. He can play and do pretty much everything but it’s about being 100% fit.
“When he came on against Arsenal, it was seeing the game out and controlling it and it’s what he had to do from a rehab point of view.
“But now we have to see, I don’t know 100%. Robbo is similar. Both are OK, but are both now ready to play, ready to start but with the schedule, with games coming up?
“We have to make these decisions.”
While there is nothing riding on the game for Liverpool, this could lead to the Reds playing with unprecedented freedom in attack. With Porto desperate for a win, it should be a thrilling encounter.
