Liverpool training took place on Thursday and Fabinho was not spotted in the photos released by the club despite no reports about an injury.
The Brazilian was poor against West Ham United before the international break but his performances with Brazil earned him massive praise from Globo Esporte.
Jurgen Klopp would’ve been hoping that the 28-year-old can come back to the Reds and perform at the same level he did against Argentina, who are now 26 games unbeaten.
The Liverpool star helped keep the likes of Angel di Maria, Rodrigo de Paul and Lionel Messi quiet but concerns will now ramp up over his fitness as Fabinho was not spotted in team training on Thursday.
Not only are there no images to be found of Fabinho in training, it has been reported by the Liverpool Echo that he was not spotted in the session but it might be too premature to get all panicky and worried.
Having just flown back from Brazil to the United Kingdom, there is a chance he could have been given the evening session to rest and recuperate after an intense encounter with fierce rivals, Argentina.
You might say Alisson Becker was spotted in the session but the physical demands of playing as a central midfielder is far different to the demands placed on a goalkeeper.
Argentina only had 3 shots on target and Alisson was barely called upon but with Fabinho playing an intense role before the long flight back to the UK, it could be that Jurgen Klopp is just being cautious.
Bear in mind that Fabinho has just returned from injury and with the huge festive fixture list on its way, there is no reason to risk the only defensive midfielder in the squad.
If he doesn’t train at all before Arsenal travel to Merseyside them that will a major problem but for now I would advise patience and caution.
