Arsenal are set to travel to Anfield to face Liverpool and Gunners fans aren’t buying what they perceive to be mind games from Jurgen Klopp.
Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Fabinho have all been doubts for the clash at some point this week, with the latter missing team training last night.
I speculated that it was because he would have been tired when he arrived back in the UK and Jurgen Klopp has proved me right in his presser today.
He said: “Hendo and Robbo didn’t train with the team yet. They did their recovery stuff, rehab stuff. It will be pretty close. It will be a late, late decision [to decide their inclusion vs. Arsenal.
“Sadio is good and Fab came back late and he did recovery and so I hope he can train today [Thursday]. I didn’t hear anything different but we will have to wait until tomorrow [Friday].”
Overall, it’s a positive update from Klopp but it’s not one that Arsenal fans believe and, in fact, some Gooners are frustrated that it looks like the Reds will have a strong squad to face Mikel Arteta’s men.
While Mane, Fabinho, Henderson and Robertson could all play against Arsenal, Klopp is still dealing with a number of injuries and will remain frustrated that he is constantly dealing with fresh injury concerns.
Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, Curtis Jones. Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez and James Milner are all guaranteed absentees so it’s not as though Liverpool will face Arsenal with a fully fit squad.
That said, it does mean that Klopp can name a fairly strong side.
